Today I celebrate three years living in London.
I came here 3 years ago, in a less sunny day than today, with a squeezed tiny heart full of hope. These weren’t three easy years, nor were they fulfilled with happiness and joy at all times. I’ve had a few joys along the way but this path was mainly made of difficulties and worries and homesickness. I’ve left behind lots of people and many places that I love and a great part of me still lives in Portugal .
But life in London has also seen brighter days. Lots of new people came into my life, I’ve learned that the paths we cross are more curvy than one would like to and that some dreams may no longer have a place in our lives when our place in the world changes . I have learned that love can be smooth, quiet and polyglot. Mainly, I grew up.
In three years , my life has changed completely, and despite the early days were filled with a truly liberator feeling, I wouldn’t go back there. In common with those days I have only two things: the lack of a plan on how long I will stay here and the certainty that one day I will return.
